A man who claims to be the second coming of Jesus Christ has claimed that the Pope backs up his beliefs - and claims he can prove it. The 71-year-old who lives in Toogoom, Queensland is convinced that he is the reincarnation of the son of God.

Far from being another false prophet, he's released images on his Facebook page of his likeness to the Turin Shroud, which is thought by some to be the burial wrapping of Jesus Christ and therefore bear his image. And now he claims that the letter, addressed to him from Pope Benedict, recognises his position in the Christian world, according to the Daily Mail. "You see, many days ago Mr Brian Marshall sent me photographs of Him and the Most Holy Shroud of Turin - He actually looks so much like that of the Holy Image on the Shroud," Mr Marshall alleges the letter reads.

"There is no other explanation. He is simply the Lord Jesus Christ Almighty! "I was so penetrated with love and compassion from God that I requested a photo the I saw to be put in a place of honour somewhere. He is the Most Royal Man Alive, The King of Kings... The Messiah, Almighty and Everlasting. "Have Faith in Him." Mr Marshall refers to Pope Francis as 'the anti-Christ' and says that he foiled the revelation by Pope Benedict in 2013 that Mr Marshall himself is the second coming.

He also speaks on his videos of the stigmata scars which he has on his hands and feet which are said to be the same as those suffered as Christ hung dying on the cross, referring to himself as the 'most holy man'. Although many on his page are critical of him, some listen to his speeches, including one US man who appears to have moved to Australia to be near Mr Marshall - leaving his family behind.

A Northern California resident revealed that his wife's step-father has allegedly left his wife, children and grandchildren. In a post which first appeared on Reddit, the man, named as jgmachine, explained: "So my wife's step-dad is a really nice guy, he's great with the kids, but he believes in some bulls***.

"He's prone to buy into conspiracy theories such as chemtrails, and he believes this guy, Brian Leonard Golightly Marshall, is Jesus Christ. Like, for realsies. You can Google his name and several things come up. "So he told his wife that he's going to go to Australia to be with him. Leaving her and his kids and grandkids to go be with this dude who says he's Jesus. "I don't particularly get it... And I don't think anyone is going to convince him to not go. Apparently they've put their house for sale and it's happening. I just find that insane. Anyways, just wanted to share. F*** cults/religion."
